What I’ve Known (Opal Hearth)

What I’ve Known (Opal Hearth)

Written while I was listening to “The Unforgiven II” by Metallica. I’m still trying to figure out what it means specifically.

What I’ve Known

By. Silvan

Shallows stand around me
Raised through the thoughts I manifest to my own gain
Nor I think in time or length
But rather the measure of my tears that built my sanity
A sanity that exists only to smother the Opal’s vicious Hearth
A flame that resists its inner heat, calling to the stones around to take its tongue and leave
Divide its nimble body into the realm surrounding
Only then will it grow weary in its quest for query

In weakness thoughts hither
Thoughts wander in circles
They greet outstretched hands of yore
But only to pass
Gripping onto smoke
coal dust hallow
Onto all that should be seen by the eyes of the bricks
The mortar connecting the flames to the Hearth
The Hearth of the Opal’s vicious
the Hearth smothered in my tears

It’s a cold place
The kind frozen in the serenity of broken repertoire
Chilling the heart and evaporating dread
The flame was not warm after all
‘Twas a slack
‘Twas always cold
Dispersal fulfilled its will
It’s absence allowed the polar expanse
Resistance was its measure
Not one of time nor length
Only the tears of its own sanity
A sanity stronger than all else
One that defied its purpose
The sanity of the Opal Hearth
