Unidentified Emotions

Unidentified Emotions

A Poem by Otsana
"

'I have known love and I have known loss this feeling is...disguised'

"

I have known love and I have known loss
this feeling is...disguised

it fills my chest with hollowness

an emptiness untapped by my mind

emotions the heart does not know

and yet it receives them with

the harshness of the cold

sharp and sudden it strikes my brave heart

reminding me that I am hurt, I am alive

I survive this frigid state in agony

longing for the winter of my repentance

so I may feel at ease once again within

I confess, this feeling I do not know

it is solitary from its host

It lives here, inside my soul

masked, it fills me with doubt

rotten and dead and yet it does not subside

it is here, it is real and when it unravels...

it refuses to reveal its repute

feeding off my mortality, it grows

no sympathy it contains nor identity

I have known love and I have known loss

this feeling is...disguised

It was birthed in passion for her

christened by the summer of her smile

cursed with intensity of virginal thrill,

this emotion which has no name..

begun the day I met unconditional love

and experienced forever lasting loss

This is dedicated to someone who helped me discover a lot about myself this year so I am thankful but she also broke my heart.

Here, see, though late, I got to write one, as I promised to! :-D
So, first of all, let me repeat: This is a lovely poem, and I really enjoyed reading it! :-)
People come into our lives, conquer a place in my heart, and we move whatever space to make room for them, and then, suddenly, they are gone. But while their entering our hearts - which we will to shift to make room for them - is a slow process, as is learning to treasure and love their presence, loss comes by far more sudden, and when it comes and leaves that nasty hole in our heart, it's only natural to be confused.
But just as your heart had adapted to make room for your once special one, it will, though slowly, painfully slowly, shift again, close the gap, open new spots, make room for others - if you allow it. You should. Just never let your heart harden in this hollow state it is in just after a grave loss - you would only trap yourself inside this emptiness with no hopes of escape.

I can tell by the way this is flows that your experience with this these emotions are very real, not just some selection of words. We've all been there at one point in time, great poem loved it.

This is incredible. These feelings of loss are nicely portrayed and the flow is dead on. One thing that really stuck out to me was your choice and use of words. Your an excellent writer. Thanks for sharing.

Aww thank you for the great review!
The emotion in this poem is strong and I enjoyed the winter metaphor. Loss is cold...despair is empty and yes cold..... very adroitly expressed.

I definately invested a lot into this... You can sense the purity and honesty which can only come through a true sense of one's posistion in relation to another... Very sophisticated and simple but very very effective...

Applause is in order
