We once were Kings

We once were Kings

A Poem by Simbles
"

this one speaks for itself.

"
We once were kings
you couldn't understand
and you wouldn't
not until you've been forced
to live on the dark side of the underhand
understand? not until you fulfill my demand
because where I see you you have no two legs
for which to stand
your presence for me, apathy does command
why are you here, to take from me ?
or for me to help you become a man
now we were once kin
so just remember now
when we are kings once again
fighting to support the cries beneath
from the peasants that would dare to set us apart
and pretend to call us friend
just remember love is boundless
but you hurt as much as you can heart
when
we once stood atop ivory towers
carved from the finest gold
but broken we where when we would defend
those that would have us die to support
their inability to tell the truth the right for which we fought...
at the lack of the stomach to upset, tell the truth and to offend
because you know then
and always will until the end
that if they weren't prepared
to do the same as you dared
then the weakness in the machine has been declared,
when we fight blindly for the ideals we wish to up hold
and so how much is anything worth, how to put a price on what anything
is worth, a something you cant make known unless your ready to
leave your own body lifeless, cold.
because that's everything that your life holds
everything you've kept that's worth anything
its the small bits of all the things that made you an everything
its the little pieces that glue your moral standing and make
you proud to die standing, eyes closed, while you sing.
Remember what life's worth,
if you cant share it
.... not worth nothing
......not worth, not a thing..

I stand being from a king to a porpa
with call from my blood in the wind
but with no desire to be from a porpa to my destiny
because my people need a king.
once we have learnt that you cant unsee your friends for the first time again
I learn the thing I'm most afraid of, is seeing my friends.
because of inability to let it go
to protect a loved one, to let them know
to help a brother, to help him show
that even when he's down I will help him flow
for my little sister needs some grounding,
have some faith, I have plenty to show
some comfort, some solidarity
some safety, a comfort net that grows.
So I cant say that I will act as a king once again
because I know I would if this time wasn't the one
would stay the prince as to watch the land burn if only to learn, the wise prodigal son
because how can I act as a king
when at the base of it all
my people need more then ever, a family again. back to basics
a roof, bed, kitchen, a floor, a small farm
for which to have magical dragon adventures, and more
because the only reason, even if it is so small,
is so that we've never to worry much.
never worry ever much about anything at all.
