I Am The Giver

I Am The Giver

A Poem by Kevin Colaprete

I reside in the azure-tinged sky,
ascending so silently, way up high,
I sit there daily, gloating with pride,
glaring at brother, who likes to hide.

My face is brightly lit whenever I dare show
and my grin is to the naked eye a dastardly foe.

Happy I am, as I provide such light,
to he, to she, to you and your sight.

How I so enjoy every single time
when I rise up and begin to play
as you and your people start to say,
"Good morning and also good day."

I give food to those in dire need,
such as the plants that I do feed.

Life is included in my rightful domain,
as I give the growth that comes with rain.

Deny me and I will not give aid to you,
over-rely on me and I will give you rue,
for the balance must then be met
else all will be in my eternal debt.
