Of Which Insanity is Born

Of Which Insanity is Born

A Poem by Kevin Colaprete

I am insane living in this horrid place,

Seeing only the worst in people,

Running to finish a never-ending race,

In which I cling to a decaying steeple.

Finding what is right and wrong,

Deciding who is weak or strong.

I loathe being such a judge in here,

In this very place we call Earth,

The feelings I hate to always bear,

When life forces us to never give berth.

I discover many things along my path,

Things which earn me both envy and wrath.

My sight shows me the insanity of it all,

The terror, the joy, the sadness, the anger,

Culminating in a chaotic mess of a ball,

Destined for nothing but a simple hanger.

When I look at the many choices I have chosen,

I wonder why I did what I did in this ocean.

I can’t contemplate the consequences of my life,

For they are many and I am just one, just one,

And I don’t know the cuts I made with a knife,

So nothing affects me when all is said and done.

Very emotional. I think you have a big heart with a fence built around you because you have so much feeling in your words. Good job!!!!
