The Skyscraper Men

The Skyscraper Men

A Poem by E.E.Moore
"

free verse

"
Beware you skyscraper men,
Of the men who wear
Your neck tie nooses;
And the women who are bound;
In your whale bone lace.
Of the Blue collared free men,
And the parents of a revolution generation.
For now the scales are weighted
With gold in your favour,
But Lady Justice is blind to your yellow metal.
The land is covered with the free men,
And corset-less women,
And their children are born stronger,
then your silver spoon race.
You cannot blind us with,
Your shop window promises and smiling faces
We hear the cries,
Of those you have betrayed,
We acknowledge the anguish,
Of the little ones you have trodden on.
We see the ruin,
You leave in your wake.
You cannot ignore us.
You cannot escape the oppressed,
Unyielding demon
Who towers over you more and more every day.
Beware you skyscraper men.
