Bankrupt

Bankrupt

A Poem by sinNsincerity

No warranty came along with their hearts.

I've musta lost a dozen homes;

Ugh,

But they were the ones who had

Foreclosed this love of mine.

Loan, after loan, after loan,

They each fell through.

That's what they were.

Alone.

Is that what I am?

Reckless abandonment...

But hey,

I'll be alright.

At least,

That's what

I always

Tell

My

Self.

Nice writing my man, I enjoyed it. Nothing wrong with telling ourselves we will survive. Learning from past challenges, I wear my scars as badges of honor.

We always tell ourselves so many things, yet many of them are comforting lies to keep us sane in this broken world. I really liked this piece, especially how your structure became smaller and smaller as I read on. It really gave a strong feeling of something being told, but not believed, such as everything is going to be alright, when it's really not. Awesome piece!

The lies often drive me insane as well, so I tend to let things be without force while keeping faith.. read more
And yet we know it is not alright or we wouldn't be discussing with the heart, sigh. As always, a most thoughtful articulation hon:)

Love was never born to say goodbye.
Beautifully written, bro. Honestly. Insane how we have to negotiate with a heart that physically belongs to us, but would lead us to believe otherwise.

Nicely done but I really like the first line. It's powerful in its declaration. Keep up the good work!

Thank you, and I'm glad that you had enjoyed it.
You win some... you lose some! Hard to tell sometimes when you first buy-in, but if we don't risk our heart we'll always just be home alone... Nice metaphors here.

Thank you Rach.
Interesting, you connote a broken home besides a broken heart in this piece, instead of warranty i would have used insurance because there isnt one for love. Heres a thought you inspired just right now after I read this......Love dont always guarantee insurance. Blind sided by false assurance of a future existence when consumed by the pleasant intensity of the chemistry. But when jealousy, complexity, zealotry are factored couples often become b******s. Not knowing that their love became substandard headed towards a relationship thats completely devoured and leave nothing but cowered hearts that are unable to start over because of the hostile closure, which began this foreclosure...Loves ugly exposure.
