This is the world that we live in

A darker look at the world we all share

My heart is empty and dark

I’m losing my mind’s natural spark

 

The world that we have been given and live in

Has been ruined by sins that can never be forgiven

 

People hurt each other in despair

With not a single thought or a care

 

This is the world that we live in

 

Where people cry everyday

And others get away with harmful displays

 

Where people learn that crime sometimes pays

And I watch as our society decays

 

I think that there is no hope, today that we’ve given

That isn’t immorally driven

 

This is the world that we live in

 

Where everyone talks and no one listens

Like a dirty washroom not fit enough to piss in

 

Thing is, this world used to be crystal clear

I fear this is a place no longer fit for our peers

 

I hope that this world will get better

Write a letter to the future to clean up this mess

 

Because this is the world that we live in

 

Author's Note

This is a dark look at the world. This is not the only way I view the world, there are plenty of great things too. But we can't overlook the bad.
