Spit In My Face

Spit In My Face

A Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
"

A poem about prejudice.

"

Spit in my face, you big disgrace

Say you'll wipe out my retarded race, because you can't stand change, you can't stand people who aren't identical to you, so if I'm not you, I'm just a tool, a second class citizen, your fool.

Well is it that simple? Sure I'm different but you've got dimples and a tattoo. Does that make you a retard too? But you say there's a difference, well that may be true, but it's not like I knew.

It's not like I knew that I was any different, when I was born. It's not like I expected you to hate me for being me. I didn't wake up this morning and say, "Hey, I want to be schizophrenic today." What do you think I can do, you think I change my sex, my skin, my mental illness, my name?

Assuming something different makes me less than you is insane. Something different is in my brain, my skin, my pants, my sexual preference or lack there of. But I know something. Something you don't.

I'm not the one who needs to change, your to blame for your prejudice.

Just a feeling I have at times

I very seldom reply to reviews, but I promise I read EVERY single one. I look forward to my next review, because it helps me learn. Even if it's just one word, I promise, I will be ecstatic to have the chance to hear what you have to say. Whenever you write something about my poems, or the themes of my poems, or criticize me it is not in vain. I will listen, learn and be thankful.
