Where Did The Love Go?

Where Did The Love Go?

A Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
"

I feel like people use each other for personal gain, and love isn't as real as I remember it being. Maybe it was always this way, but I remember it being better.

"

Where did the love go?

I remember as a kid

No matter what I did

There was love

A special kinship between those I knew

A feeling so true

That I knew we were connected

Now that love has been corrected by selfishness

Greed, a love of one's self, not others

Rules the minds of those I thought were dear

All that's left is fear of being used by others

Trust is swept away like dust

Leaving friendships strong as iron to rust

For love not to leave us

Honesty is a must

And without love we're lost

I do the best I can to be a good friend

And help those in need

But for love to exist, trust is the fee

Sorry this is a little short. Please tell me what you think about it, anything you think I could add or change would be appreciated.

I very seldom reply to reviews, but I promise I read EVERY single one. I look forward to my next review, because it helps me learn. Even if it's just one word, I promise, I will be ecstatic to have the chance to hear what you have to say. Whenever you write something about my poems, or the themes of my poems, or criticize me it is not in vain. I will listen, learn and be thankful.

Maybe now you can add that true love exists, no matter how long but it exists. People are just manipulated by their brains no one is born with greed, selfishness or crime. Love isn't always from humans to humans it can be materialistic... You love your poetry, isn't it true?

It's sad to think love would change as the years went by.
I personally like short poem between 10 and 20 lines, to often long poems end up writing different wording but with the same meaning in a number of lines. Old saying goes, why say 100 words when you can make your point with 25 unless your a politician lol. I think you captured the effect of the changing times has on people and the relationships between them, I like it :~) Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!

Thank you Bear!
When there's nothing left, trust and hope become one of the greatest saviours of our life. I feel really connected to the pieces with which I can relate, you've evoked that feeling once again. It's very sad...to know that there's no love left here, only greed, selfishness, cruelty. You made me feel your words once again. Thanks so much for sharing!
