A Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
"

A poem about my first and last love

"

I’ll stand by your side until the end of your days, until the very moment that you fade away

I demand to fight thrilled to stay the way I am, killed the fiery dreary moment your dormant soul is opened to the light of day and your ferry across the open bay into still waters, you’ve very grave until then I will stay a slave

I live for you, be the sky white, black or blue, be my body slew or abuse by the powers that keep you from me

You make me the person I could never be, having the need to push against your enemies I hope you see a friend in me, I’m no celebrity, I know you're better than me, and I know you better than me, but believe me, I will never leave you

Be the sea cold my soul sold I will hold you close in the waters farther than any other scare the very moon like a martyr, catch the stars and give them to you, take the clouds down and show you how the sky swoons to please you, how the world needs you, how it bleeds for you

No matter how I’m shattered, I'm flattered to be battered by pain if you gain satisfaction, I’m always in action to faction a reaction and capture a moment, let you own it, take from me what you need, I don’t care if you stole it

I’m full of surprises as the sun rises on the horizons eyes that watch you and caught your gaze, smiling at your face, your grace, let me blaze the way for you today, here to stay, more than just a memory

Whatever blade would wish to cut you, the shade will keep you safe with my cold-hearted art, I will shut out the pain, and name the monsters that bite my nemesis, protecting your sleeping form in the night, whatever menaces might fight your genesis

Together we are deciding what’s right, fighting the smiting light that might try to bless me, I feel better when you caress me, when I’m broken you collect me and piece me together like a puzzle, a puddle of water becomes a shuttle through the elicit as I shutter uttering my love for you, I only think of you, a new existence comes from you, I love you, and I always will, whether push comes to shove, and the pain I will push through

I would kill the still waters that fill my soul for you, I would go cold for you, grow old for you, fit any mould for you, sell the things life stole for you, make my heart full once more for you, yield under the sun and snow for you, bold enough to fold over in two for you, brew a new world for you, hold you, love you, put a gun to my head for you, end my life with lead for you, keeping the bed warm for you, sworn to be with you, to live free with you, give everything to you

I would give every second I live for you, sing for you, bring wings for you to fly on, forget about our bygones, how our past love went wrong, I will stay strong for the day you come down from heaven, for the moment we met at eleven, seven years since I’ve seen you, I breath for you, believe in you, grieve for you, wish I could be pleasing you, seeing through the blue sky into the world that’s yours

Of course I love you, can’t have enough of you, I didn’t want to leave you but you left me, reality wrecked me, your death affected me, correct me if I’m wrong, but I deserve to stay strong in your absence, but will there ever be another love, any magic?

Absolute madness to believe you’ve left

What’s left, what burden will I need to heft to respect your soul, how I’ve been dissected, what coal will I burn through as I yearn for you, what will I turn to, will I burn too waiting for you?

I’m hating the new life I have, I’m glad to be here, really I am, but damn it ain’t the same

You’ve been slain and I’ve became stronger than before, longer, better, more, at my very core but without you, I just feel sore, what is life for, what is love for without yours? What more?

What door will I walk through, who will I be without you, what hate will I wait through, whatever I thought I knew is no longer true, will the old crew ever be born anew? Do they believe in me like I believe in you?

Without you the winds blew harder than ever, never has there been rain so heavy, let me carry the burden, before the hurting starts learning and hits me where it hurts, first things first, you were worth ten of me, so send me a heavenly enemy to dismember me and let us return to our memories

Sever me from this world, and bring me back to December, please

I very seldom reply to reviews, but I promise I read EVERY single one. I look forward to my next review because it helps me learn. Even if it's just one word, I promise, I will be ecstatic to have the chance to hear what you have to say. Whenever you write something about my poems, or the themes of my poems, or criticize me it is not in vain. I will listen, learn and be thankful.

There's an intense passion in this piece: "I would kill the still waters that fill my soul for you, I would go cold for you, grow old for you, fit any mould for you, sell the things life stole for you". The metaphors deepen the emotion of injury intertwined with love. Nicely done. I really like your play on words, by the way - it's a lovely talent. As a suggesion, it would be interesting to see you experiment with structure.
