Hating Love, Sinning Prayers

Hating Love, Sinning Prayers

A Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
"

Let the poetry speak for itself. It always has something to say. Questions left unanswered. Murdered words still ransomed.

"

See me bright as the sun that crowns your clouds

See me dance like a marionette in the sunset’s downy depth

See me ride the elevator to hell

See me climb down the staircase that you fell

See the heaven of my eyes die

Fold the pieces back inside

Into that empty box I shed

And wear the memories in your head

See me beat the devil out of your heart

See me cheat the rebels of their farce

See me weep the treble of a waltz

See me reap the harvest that was false

See me break day as knight falls

See the glory of us crawl

See the ground give way its weight

Carry on your burdened hate

For if all I love is truly dead

Bread and butter suffering’s dread

Is but a word I come to say

When you bury heretics in their graves

The only gift that god has gave

Unravelled gift a box of mine

The spine and soul I left behind

Bloodties cyanide intertwined

For how is your smile oh so wide?

For you walk a pathway of guided starlit night

I guess we never did see eye to eye

Abandoned you so I did write

So yes I had something to say

You crumpled paper thrown away

And the words I put to bed, will never sleep or wake again

No matter time or place, or smothered deep in our embrace

For I mothered my own whims

And fathered nothing but my sin

Reaping seedling singsong hymns, the sound of sorrow on the wind

And while our fate might be so grim

I know that time ends to begin

Well this sounds like a reply from the poetry to my poems "Dear Poetry" and "Beautiful"... More particularly "Dear Poetry". Well even if it's not I'd like to think like that. Poetry just replied my love songs through yours.
I'm just glad you wrote this 😊. As I said I wasn't so passionate but now I'm so much that poetry too takes over my heart. This would be another favorite poem mine from you. I feel so great for this piece.

“See me weep the treble of a waltz”- a breathtaking line that I wish I had written R.J. Your images are so fittingly dramatic and apocalyptic. Profound lines so moving and beautifully written. I see the tragic fall from grace of a human being, a writer, perhaps flawed by hubris. Yes, in life we make choices, and sometimes we discard true love to pursue our own dreams. You describe so well here a protagonist who is tormented by such a choice. “ I know that time ends to begin”- Master Class work. Kudos!
