Gospel of Apocalypse

Gospel of Apocalypse

A Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
"

I really wanted to write a poem loosely based on the four horsemen of the apocalypse. In the end, I was writing several different poems, and saw the opportunity to combine them and fulfill that role.

"

Scratch (War)

Scratch the records

Like a key across the monochrome acrylic abyss of

A blend of colours, a-sundered Beelzebub velvet elegies

Melancholy confidantes symphonic hallelujah of

A hollow blooming illusion built out of the umbilical illustration

Of paraplegic graffiti the mosaic polymerization on the altar of

Faceless immortals who snorkel metamorphosis

Thick in the spit of a trickling chrysalis yet to be born

From maelstrom’s bones with a halo’s scorn

As jailor of worlds

Hand of the Giant (Conquest)

Talk to the hand of God; he speaks in sign language

And has the world wrapped around his little finger

Engaged with Mother Nature

The be-all and end-all of new beginnings is death’s beauty;

Shackled to life like a prisoner

Three effigies will kill time:

As these shapeless reincarnations of the worlds left behind to crumble

In a cage of endless space defibrillate

The claustrophobic dystopia of some existence

That walks on the eggshells of a pilgrimage

Like the last breath of god’s splintered corpse is vengeance

The four horsemen of my prison of meaninglessness

Battle battalions of malachite nebulas penumbra

I am the devil’s advocate, avarice is just another symphony

The Armageddons’ medicine serendipitous epitome

Serpentine metallurgy swings on my veins like a slipknot snake

Puppeteering the ethereal materialism

Of the Ursuline poltergeists

Porcelain as an orphanage of metamorphosis

Life Has Already Lived Its Lifespan (Famine)

Valhalla belladonna as the vinyl electrolytes

Serpentine worm their way through the onomatopoeia

Of double helix Phoenixes dream-eaters bulimic

Of relinquished photosynthesis malignant maleficent

Soliloquy’s ventriloquist elliptical ichor sifting through the crucifix

Of chrysalis the guillotine of oblivion crystalline

As the smile of moonshine leviathans spirals

Of homicidal violating polymerization

Dilapidation a Lazarus Abbadon cavernous avalanche

Of humanity’s heavenly longevity

Sentient revelations recirculating

The hernia of hypothermic eternities

Purgatory metamorphosis the dorsal fins

Of scimitar armadas reincarnated discombobulated

Abominations dominatrix of the flames of Himalayan mayhem

As the rays of braiding unbridled annihilation the psalms

Ankh of dawn straw-man Armageddons

Resurrected perpetually resuscitated again

Through the pestilential evanescence

Evangelion as a parhelion melancholy diabolical electroconvulsive

Iridescent parthenogenesis cardinal essence,

Vassals of cataclysms perpetual crepuscular

Extraterrestrial Panentheism

Prophecies of dharma’s samsara

Vipassanā encore karma daunting onward

Passing On The Torch To Light The Pyre (Death)

Sabotage the cathedral entheogen sin

Ecclesiastical sabbatical Avalon begins

Primordials wings cordial hymns

Of photosynthesis unorthodox apocalypse whims

An opera of psychomachia grins

In a dystopian kaleidoscope of Kashmir

Amaranthine the bangles of dandelions

Married to the meadowlands of Salem’s hands

Praying in contemplation of elation’s darker places

The wicker of a cinders brimstone shrivelled obsidian

The pitch wicked crucifixion of amaryllis ammunition

Sprouting from the chambers of a gun; we are one!

Chimeras camouflaged orchids orchestras of alabasters’ craft

The warpath of the rafters clap

Devoid wrapped of glasshouse cracked

Toys chapped with asylum’s rasp

The misers laugh from behind my mask,

The primal gasp that’s beyond my grasp

The final wrath of our aftermath

The forked tongue road ahead is a psychopath

Morosely wed to delight in death

Rigour mortis treads on the threads that weave worn outlast

Snake eyes of the dice shadows cast aside

Fall from grace, or step into the light

Bloodshed your form in metamorphosis

Hollow scarlet is your heart of darkness

Arkham tarnished by the harvest husked

Take pride your wrath for greed is lust,

The envy of sloth, gluttonous starstruck

The limelight of your parished wish

The deads’ embrace; marionettes eclipse

Your Last Words Are My First Note (Trumpeter)

Stairway spiralling demise sunkissed abyss

Looks back at you with a silent off-pitch lisp

As if hell broke loose from the bottomless pit

In depths of despair the lighthearted trust in blinded hope

That barely scratch the surface, of heaven’s gates the curtain sown

In the deadman’s wonderland angels harp

About the creeping shadows’ that diss chords unstrung parts

Distorted darkhorse heartstring’s bar

The corridors filled with unopened jars

withholding empty lives and broken hearts

The show goes on, offstage, apart

My body is no corpse, it’s timeless art

My rhyming style a smiling immortal scar

Serpentine graffiti, a vile arc

And should my heart bungee jumpstart

In the downfall of my days

Let me climb the passageways

And find another faith

Left behind in the weatherbeaten waves

Of the fabric of rippling history we have stained

Much of the art here is by Karlo Lottersberger. Here's a link to his artwork: Karlo Lottersberger (https://www.artstation.com/karlottersberger)

I'd also like to suggest the youtube channel that provided the art and a video that details the lore surrounding the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Here's the link for that: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCy-VnRxdzpcQSnR8nPo4wWw/featured

I'm working on another poem that might be fun for you to read, a longer piece of work. But I figured even though I'm not feeling so well right now, and I'm not ready to share it, I might as well still work on something. This poem was the result. I hope you enjoy it.

I promise I read every single review, and I generally will reply to them. I look forward to my next review, because it helps me learn. Even if it's just one word, I promise, I will be happy to hear anything you feel needs sharing. Whenever you write on my shortcomings or breakthroughs, or the themes of my poems, or share ideas and friendly criticism, it decides my next poem to an extent. I will listen, learn and be thankful. And 99% of the time, you'll get a reply unless you're trolling me.

You are welcome my friend.
Usually when I read you, it feels like I'm in a hidden world buffered from the madness of society. I"m not that plugged into society, so this is where I typically dwell. This is the first time I can remember reading you & being reminded of what's going on in the world. The death of sanity & reason which has people hoarding toilet paper & disregarding others with valid needs feels like horsemen of the apocalypse trampling & killing everything we used to think of as reasonable & just & sensitive. It's like the entire globe has erupted into WWIII which is consumer-driven rather than weapon-inflicted. Our love of capitalism & profit & greed has crumbled into a melee of madness. Somehow reading your poem helps me put this madness into perspective (even if it will never make sense) . . . just another human-generated apocalypse wiping out life as we thought we knew it. Of your parts, "Famine" is the one I had the hardest time relating to & the last two were the ones that really carried me away on the spirit of your message (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I love how you share some of your process, as well as your art . . .
incredible artwork and your words do it justice. whole things is awesome but my favorite part is Hand of the Giant (Conquest). wording and imagery is in a category of their own. i always have to catch my breath, wipe the sweat off and come back down to earth after reading you. could read this and stare at the artwork forever. explosive dynamite ... :)
