Newborn

A Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
"

This poem is really dark. You've been warned.

Newborn

Miasma’s manifestation leads me home again

A little bit of life goes a long way

It sputters out like a pulse

A half-lifeline which I cannot read between

A lost dream of some time before, above my head

Dreamcatchers of comatose people who caught up with death

And finished first, running through their lives

On the path to victory

Sometimes on the way home after a hard day says farewell

I remember what it felt to dwell in the depths of hell

All too well

The voice of a miscarriage

Still waters run so deep you could drown if you're not careful

Some people are just born to fail

Some people don’t get to choose

To live or die

They never got to race with the sands of time

Never were they not yet buried alive

I drag my body through the mud

And I feel like so many corpses have before

Newborn

I promise I read every single review, and I generally will reply to them. I look forward to my next review, because it helps me learn. Even if it's just one word, I promise, I will be happy to hear anything you feel needs sharing. Whenever you write on my shortcomings or breakthroughs, or the themes of my poems, or share ideas and friendly criticism, it decides my next poem to an extent. I will listen, learn and be thankful. And 99% of the time, you'll get a reply unless you're trolling me.

This made me think about the government approved partial-birth abortions in New York. A baby that can, smell, taste and feel, being ripped apart limb by limb and suctioned out in pieces. And that is a reality. I don't think there are words dark enough to describe the depths of that sort of depravity. And now, New York is at the center of this viral outbreak. It almost seems like a retaliatory justice on the living for allowing new life to be so horribly cast aside on the garbage heap.

Hmm... you're scaring us with the tagline? You know you can choose between "Ewww! mud" and "Awh! mud". You'd fail if you're attempting to scare me... I'm not! This is a perfect imagery though and a healthy size. OK I see I'm failing in my attempt in trying to be funny but nevermind. This is a really nice one.
