People
People may say that we exist, but do we really exist?
People may say that there is a god, but is there really a god?
People may say that some are more equal than others, is that possible?
People may say that the world is going down the drain, but is that so?
People may say that some things are impossible, but is that really true?
People may say that we must act a certain way, do we have to?
People may say that one ideology is better than the other, but is that so?
People may say that they aren't racist, but are they really?
People may say they are democrats, but are they really republicans?
People may say they are religious, but are they really an atheist?
People may say that humanity is doomed, but are they the one's who are doomed?
People may say that global warming exist, but does it really exist?
People may say that some things can never be solved, but is that accurate to say?
People may say that television is ruining the minds of children, but is that true?
People may say that we should be who we truly are, but do they believe in that?
People may say that we are weak, but are we really strong?
People may say that not every person is entitled to wealth, but is that accurate to say?
Since the beginning of time, people may say things,
But are they telling the truth simply because they say it, or because we believe it.
We like to think that we all have independent minds, but do we really?
All those questions and many more are still being asked to this day,
But the answers are left up to the person who is asked.
So the lesson must be learned that we can not always listen to other people,
Because like you and I, they are not perfect as well.

A very poignant poem, because there is nothing new under the sun. I could say I am racists because I am against what some of the "human race" has been doing for centuries. That being said I do believe that you should add a word to this line, and I will put it in parenthesis for you to see :

" But are they telling (the) truth simply because they say it, or because we believe it."

see how it makes it more of a complete sentence. But other than that its a very good poem- and as you say at the end - none of us is perfect!
