I will always be there

I will always be there

A Poem by Skyler Kelley
"

An old man’s last words to his dying wife...

"
I love all of you and me,
We’ll be on the side with God,
He Himself knows we’re meant to be.

To see your smile one last time crystallizes my heart,
The blood within it,
To the end from the start.

A serene, senile touch on my arm says many words,
A weak, frail frown on your face,
But a spirit with colorful birds.

No! Don’t cry, Honey,
I will be there,
From heart to heart,
From the everlasting love we share.

Don’t cry at your end, Honey,
Remember our last day,
After all,
Our pure hearts are meant to shatter one day,

You’re my everything, the essence of living,
You’ve never given me despair,
Goodbye, love, remember,
I will always be there.

I really loved this poem! It is definitely filled with emotion and sorrow, but at the same time it is so sweet because of what he is saying to her. It is something that would be very comforting in your last moments, and you picked a very hard topic because most people do not know what to say to a person who is dying. I especially loved the line that says, "Our pure hearts are meant to shatter one day" I just love that line and it leaves us something to think about.
