Sometimes

We're starting our Poetry section in English, and here is my first contribution. The prompt was "I used to be..." But I took some license because why not.

Sometimes
I stay up
Thinking on things
Like who I am
Who I’m not
And what I believe
Not thinking about the girl
I used to be

Sometimes
I fade out
Thinking on things
Like Life
And living
With everything they mean
Not thinking about the girl
I am becoming

Sometimes
I shut my eyes
Thinking on things
Like Death
And dying
And how it’ll be
Not thinking about the girl
That will end up nothing

Wow, I really love the way you have chosen to use line break within this poem. It really helps slow the reader down, but not to the point that it becomes too heavy handed. Great work!
