Chapter 2A Chapter by MandaThe apartment was only a quick walk away from the school. That worked perfectly. I had Political Science class Monday to Wednesday. Friday I had photography. Today was Monday though, so I headed for my first class of Political Science at my new University. As I walked I felt awkward, people stared at me and I felt as if I was in High school all over again. I hugged onto the book I got in the mail, and onto my single binder I brought with me. I looked at my feet as I walked because I could feel the stars and the whispers. The school doors weren’t open just yet, so I took a seat next to some girls who looked nice. The blonde one spoke up, “Did you hear?” She said to the other one, who was a brunette. “He’ll be in our school.” She then squealed. I couldn’t help but ease drop on them. I scooted closer silently, trying to find out who she was talking about. “Yeah, he’s going to be in Political Science!” The brunette said. Hope he’s in my class, if he is this interesting. I smiled to myself. “Yeah. A nerdy class, how cute.” The blonde started. My smile faded. Maybe the b***h wasn’t so nice after all. I cleared my throat, making both of them look at me. I gave the blonde dagger like glares as I visibly held my Political Science book to my chest. “Excuse me, sorry for interrupting, but who are you talking about?” I asked. The brunette smiled and opened her mouth to speak, when someone called out. “The doors are now open!” All three of us looked at the building and then stood up. I hurried my way to my class. When I arrived, the Brunette arrived shortly after; she smiled sweetly at me as I took a seat. In the classroom, it was almost full besides a seat next to me and a few else scattered around. I placed my binder and book on the table and pulled out a Jonas pin. I started to click it nervously as I watched a few stranglers arrive to the classroom. I looked at my book and then started to flip through it, trying to look at least a little normal. When I let out a sigh the door to the room flung open. “Sorry I’m late!” said a male’s voice. I didn’t pay any attention to who it was, but who ever we was, he sat next to me. As class started Mr. Smith arrived into the room. He cleared his throat and looked around at the students. “Bright new faces, eager to learn.” He said. “Time to mend the minds of our future. Who knows, a future president could be in this room as we speak.” He smiled a charming smile. I could feel the male next to me stir. I was ignoring him though; I had social anxiety so I tried not to look at people because I believed that would get their attention, and they would feel the need to talk to me. “Now, open your books to page five. I will go over the basics of what we will learn this year.” Mr. Smith grabbed a piece of chalk and started to write on the board. I could feel the boy’s body moving closer and closer to me. “Hey.” He whispered, I tried to ignore him at first, like I didn’t hear him. He leaned in even closer this time; I could feel his body heat. I was not comfortable. I looked at him fast; ready to shoot him a glare for getting close to me. But instead, my mouth fell open. “Hey, you!” He smiled. “Excuse me, but can I borrow a pen?” He asked. Without thinking I handed him my Jonas pen. “Thanks” he said lifting up the pen and nodding his head. His eyes scanned my surprised face, “I’m Nick, Nick Jonas. By the way.” I swallowed hard, “H-hi Nick. I’m Amanda Pimentel.” I watched as he held out his hand to me, I shook it. “Nice to meet you.” “Nice to meet you too.” He said, “So far people have been rude to me here.” He shrugged. People mean to Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers? I was in wonder. Who would ever dare to be a jerk to any one them? They are one of the sweetest humans you would ever meet. “Same with me.” I shrugged as well. “I guess you’re the ‘mystery human’ the girls were talking about today. I guess I didn’t get the memo because I was probably the only who didn’t know you were going here.” Nick laughed, “At least your not freaking out that I’m sitting next to you. It’s pretty refreshing. Why did he sit next to me? There were other seats available. Nick then sat back in his seat and watched our professor write on the board. “Hey,” he leaned into me again. “After class do you want to go get a coffee or something? I obviously have friends in LA, but it’s too early for them to be up.” He laughed. Does this mean Nick Jerry Jonas wants to be friends with me? I swallowed big and nodded. “My best friend is working at the studio with Peter today, it’s usually an all day thing.” I shrugged. “Oh, that’s cool.” He smiled. “You want to know my job?” He smirked, “I’m just a famous rockstar. No big deal.” He shrugged. I laughed, “Wow, I would have never guessed.” I smiled. He laughed in return. We both then faced the front of the class. For the rest of the class we didn’t speak much, but my anxiety dropped when I finally made a friend. © 2010 Manda |
