Sloth

Sloth

A Poem by Paula M. Potter

Sloth

( acedia )

Sloth the numbness wraps around

As we slide into idleness

Slowly hypnotizing us into believing

Day to day things are not worth the effort

Preferring to slide into the ground

And letting the worms do the work

Motivation is gone

Drifting away into the embracing void

Even dreaming is not worth the effort

As the abyss swallows you whole

This one I very much like. The part about "preferring to slide into the ground/ And [let] the worms to all the work" is a very good example of imagery. Sloth is also such a common thing in today's society that your poem applies to almost everyone. I also like the part where you called it an "Embracing void." You have some really good imagery in all of these.
