Don’t Think

Don’t Think

A Poem by Soft Interlude

Overthinking can lead to a dark path

I can't think too hard,
Or I'll lose my mind.
Too much thinking means:
Not enough breathing.

I can't breath,
I don't remember how.
My brain is so filled,
Spilling over the top.

To the brim with sorrow,
Shoving out what's useful,
To make room for what's not.
I'm gasping for air.

My life is a gasp,
A gasp for air.
A constant hope that I'll breathe,
And my lungs won't fill with water.

first line second stanza...i read as "breathe"---
i like what this poem expresses....we don't even live sometimes because we are too caught up in thinking and worrying about what is next...instead of taking a deep breath....and just living the moment.

I relate to this a lot. I've tried a lot to not think because then my brain overloads with horrible stuff. I like that the poem is relatable as well as well written. When I'm writing I have a hard time writing something relatable while still making it a beautiful piece, but you did. Great job

I like this, great writing. I can relate with this given my experience with anxiety and overthinking
