A Promise Made!

He asked her to promise to never leave his side,

To never let any other in her heart,

To always and forever stay his and only his,

Lost in his love,

She typed 'I promise'

 

Promise to always and forever be his and only his,

Promise to never let another guy replace him,

But she was afraid of not being able to keep her promise to him

Tears rolled down her cheeks as she typed these words and her heart ached

 

Three years have passed,

They are on their own paths now,

He moved on and no longer cares about her,

But for her the guilt is still alive,

The guilt of being unable to keep her promise,

Though she never had another man next to her,

But she still feels guilty for not being next to him forever.

This poem is based on the guilt of a girl feels about breaking a promise she made to her Ex-Boyfriend.
