Writer's Block

Writer's Block

A Poem by John Dennis Gillespie

I wrote down the first things that came to my mind and I designed every line to illuminate the shut down side of my brain.

I wrote down the first words that sent out sensation and I never deviated from the route these words took my hands.

I wrote down everything without considering if it made sense and I maintained the strength to keep fighting through my blurry thoughts.

I wrote down fantasies, realities, and the in-betweens, and I let my dreams lead and my future fade because I rather be happy than rich.

I wrote down lyrics, poems, and I sung from the top of my lungs and decided if I couldn't write it, I'd ignite it from my diaphragm

I wrote until I lost my writer's block.
