What Is Love?

What Is Love?

A Poem by John Dennis Gillespie

So what is love, but an emotion that fades and returns,
and waves like oceans then burns like rays of explosives?
So what is love, but terror, but war.
It's cozy; it's warm. It's crazy;it storms!
What is love, it's a friend that holds hand
and holds close when there's no hope
and there is no soul and no gold
on this old road that many fail to take.

What is love, but art, the canvas? Our hearts.
We manage to spark a riot when we are apart.
Together. We're collision. We're crashing beyond the heavens
There's a garden in the stars. Where we lay and send our letters.

So what is love, but something that we've gained and kept strong through our pain
This feeling must reign for me to remain.
Love is you.
Love is you.
My love.
Love is you.
