Playing a character

This is not really a story. I just put it here because this is not a poem, nor a book, nor a chapter. This is just a thought that is killing me and I need to put it out somewhere. I chose this place.

Playing a Character

What can you derive from the fact that three of my biggest heroes were, or are, always playing a character,

They cut out the truth to create fiction, yet there will always be that little hint of truth.

One plays as if he isn't aware of what he does,

He plays dumb and confuses his audience,

He will always be the smartest and wittiest in the room,

but you'll never be sure.

Another has never been spotted playing himself,

He was Mighty Mouse, Latka, a wrestler or perhaps Tony.

Actually, he might have played his own truth every now and then,

But we will never be sure.

The last one, well, in the end we knew what the last one was,

We thought he was the happiest man in the room, 

and he was the funniest as well.

In the end it turned out, he was a man who was depressed,

playing someone who was not.

So, who am I? 

I am the guy who is expected to be a joke,

after all, thats how I've been acting since I learned how to act.

If you have a blank slate, and it learns only one way of life,

you can be damn sure that's the only way he will show himself.

So, what do I want to be?

I am expected to get my college degree,

get stuck at a job where I have to care about money and things.

Rationally speaking, that is the dream for most people in the world,

this is why I would never say this in public, where people know my name.

Because who likes the douchebag who complains about getting a good job?

So, what do I WANT to be?

I don't know, but I know this isn't it.

I want to be like my idols, funny and full of wit.

I want to be someone whose name puts a smile on peoples' faces.

I want to make people happy, because than I will be too.
