Spaces Between

Spaces Between

A Poem by Sophia Marie

These spaces in-between the stars have caught me,

Raining attention. I hold a wooden leg that’s splintered.

It flakes under pink nails, burrowing deep into flesh.

Hard pressed to shoot out into this free night sky,

My eyes wander toward the brightest.

The ones that flower, claiming their place.

Here the bloom comes, so swift sure;

The certainty of an inner conscious being yelling,

That one, pick that one! Under the blue glow.

Holy blue, sparking yellow, stream together;

These eyes swirl the colors and collisions. Blackness

Becomes direction in this sky’s night expanse.

Looking out to hold the nothing to this hand,

I dream of worlds long beyond these dark sights.

Their cold weight drips through this prism view.

As gold light beams out, breaching eternal dark,

It colors the deadened spaces.

Brings the life to brim over, spilling heavens cup.

A very good poem that in opinion was well written. I did like how you seperated the stanzas from each other. That was nice effect.

I like it, can't really say why, but I like it.

Lovely imagery, although I found the structure a little distracting. Good write!

I love the physical, spiritual and metaphyspcal way this jumps from here to there and back again. Marvelously emotive and a perfect discription of gazing. A sheet delight to read. And marvelous to read someone so fresh in approach.

I enjoyed this poem. The strong description and the set-up of the poem allow the reader to see and feel the emotion of the words. The sky can make us dream and wonder. The ending was perfect. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poem.
