The Weight of Guilt

Tremendous force, fighting not to go against

 A war of the body and heart, heart and mind

Overwhelmed by desire, wrong seems right

Trying not to give in but trial is unreturned

 

Tremendous weight falls on the heart

An eluding of peace of mind and joy

Depressed by a heart that is not at rest

Life beginning to lose its meaning daily

 

A hanging prayer, undelivered and unlistened

When the body has won guilt becomes heavy

With own kicks and fists one is pummeled

Isolation and regret and a sense of being faulty

 

Realization of how you pretended to be perfect

What-should-have-been versus what-is

Temporary blockage of sense leads to this weight

Guilt calls, guilt gnaws, guilt fades
