Crimson, Ink, and Salt

Crimson, Ink, and Salt

A Poem by Linzey

Let it roll

Reflecting bright crimson off of the mirrored image

A girl

Longing and lonely

Hoping to smile once more

Never to see herself like this

Broken on the floor, just like her mirror

Let it disolve

Creating black henna patterns

Held together in the puddle of tears

Rolling off her cheek

Combining drop by drop with her red pain

Let it pull

Tugging on the strings sewn to her body

Becoming the puppet instead of the master

Staring at the puddle, it doesn't spread

The mirror becomes one once more

Let it pulse

Like a heart

Combining into the shape of her

Water, ink, and blood

Let it flow through her

Let it become

It slowly forms with her

Invisible to the naked eye

She can still see it

Everyday it haunts her

Everyday it gives her strength

Let it disappear

Even with the strength, it can't last

The old her is gone

But she will never forget the horrors she's seen

It will never go away
