Do You See What I see?

Do You See What I see?

A Poem by Linzey

Every time I look up
The face I once knew begins to change
When I finally look away
The crack in the concrete sidewalk seems to grow larger
Trying to swallow me up into the dark abyss
Trying to take away everything that I once knew

Every time I look around
At the surroundings that never seem to be what others say they are
I understand that I can't trust those who were closest to me and
When I can finally look forward
Everything else decides to go backwards
Erasing all of the ideals I once knew and held dear

Yet, when others look up they seem to think everything's the same
No faces change
No problems trying to swallow them up
Like creatures in the dark
Taking away each love that you once knew

And even when they look around
Surroundings mean nothing
They seem to trust all they know and see
Looking forward to a future that may never come

Maybe next time I should take everything away
Not just from myself
But from others as well

They won't have to see the face that seems to not constantly change
See the abyss never opening up in front of themselves

Let them still trust those they love
And let decisions remain that of heart instead of head

Let me take all of the responsibilities you hold unknowingly
Just as I will with myself

Let it all disappear...
