How to define that which is poisoned by society

How to define that which is poisoned by society

A Poem by SpokenWord
"

This poem was inspired by Liza the Lioness

"

is beauty a by product
of the clothes that adorn a woman
from the wickedly tight
to the obviously too short
can I measure it
by the amount of make up she wears
painted Queen or painted clown to be
is Maybelline the yard stick
that a man gives a perfect 10 too
or does it rest between the roundness
of her breast or the valley between her knees
is it her sex that appeals
or is it her surrender to man's needs
that appeases?

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder
then what does that say about women
and what does it say about me?

Is beauty only seen or can it be felt as well
can I hear it if I listen real closely
or see it if I was blind to it
does beauty have a scent that
I can smell, bottle and sell
if I touch it will I only feel skin
and if I lick it will it taste like salt
mixed with perfume and make up
can beauty be more than skin deep.. Please~

What exactly is beauty
and who are the beholders
what makes one beautiful and another ugly?

Truth be told
perfect beauty is a fairy tale
told by horny men with hard pricks
a measuring stick to control women
enslave them into an image
break their will when they can't live up to it
make women needy for his approval to feel validated
her entire ego rests on it
pop her bubble by telling her she is ugly
and break her knees making her humble
that kind of beauty is a curse
for anyone who gives into it
which is most of us

Our spirit knows true beauty
it lives inside us
visually we are blind to it
what my eyes sees as beautiful
my soul sees as ordinary
for beauty is spiritual not visual

fall in love with her flesh and be disappointed

fall in love with her soul and
experience bliss for a lifetime

In many ways Liza has opened my eyes to the danger of what we call Beauty.

I like this conviction. I like the way you set us up then give us the truth of beauty and what is truly beautiful. Great teaching moment with passion as the instrument

you are so in tune with the esence of beauty on all fronts~ from spiritual recline to inclined saturation washed down by media ventures~ your exploration of the concept of what is beautiful holds a sharp lesson for us all~

@SS..i'mParaphrasing.. here..but many women are defined by the men (or other lovers) who look at them...it is mentioned that/the way is sexual ...by the way they appear physically...first..on WC do you post pictures of yourself as Desireable physically ...Is that picture one of what ...MEN decide is Desireable...or what you think is sexy..what makes you feel sexy?...I see which avatar you have chosen and I wonder how that represents Sexy...I find the pictures of Healthy happy women much more attractive than posed pictures....If you wish the MEN in your life and on WC to react to you as intelligent and sexy because you think for yourself and are confident in your sexy ness then why post what you just said that you do Not aspire to?..in other words.. why not post a picture like LiZa

posts as an avatar..not being critical really wondering what you are meaning and thinking?
what do you think Troy? LiZa?

another thing i'd like to share that i read recently in the book i'm reading "the beauty myth" is that women are not encouraged or aware of their own sexuality on their own; we are blindly led to only see ourselves as sexy if we have the best get-up; we ignite desire in men and in this vulnerable perception; we are at the mercy of seeing ourselves as desirable only through recognition of external influences. We are only turned on by ourselves through the perception of being wanted, desired, pursued and felt through a man's devouring eyes (not heart or mind).

awww shucks - this was beautiful because it draws out the appreciation of beauty of reality in emotions, thought and spirit not the painted images we are drowned with each day to paint ourselves up and cover our natural beauty. The flesh does attract attention but beauty is what keeps hearts beautiful with affection declaring itself surrendered to shattering the surfaces of the eye; delving into the heart.

Men are strange creatures, they need a little persuasion re. what they feel and what they need! So many women would romp around without make-up and clothes (meant to attract) except that media/manufacturers encourage them to buy/use instead of being self. Thank goodness for the poets and artists who strip the layers .. in whatever way they choose, and see what's real and not contrived. Your poem is lovely but at the same time logical and thoughtful .. shows a mind as well as the rest!

True beauty lies within the heart... I think if we were all blind the world would be a more fair and happy place... admittedly I have things that physically attract me to a woman but for me to have something with them they got to have beauty in the mind and heart too.

This journey of thought was a pleasure to read.
You have a talent for amazing effects with candid speech.
The sincerity of your work is magnetic and gets the reader
emotionally invested with what seems to be no effort.
You make this extremely difficult style seem easy.

The only bad thing about this poem is the rude awakening
an inspired reader will have when they attempt to follow in
your footsteps...thinking it will come naturally to them.
