an echo of you

an echo of you

A Poem by Julia Squires

the flutter you bring me lifts me up to the stars
i settle in the skyline, home at long last
hugging my knees to my childish chest
and i wish you could glimpse me from way down there
but the distance is dreary, and it might be too much
to ask...

you came like a firework, echoing out
backwards and forwards through time and space
your radius struck me years in advance
didn't it?
i think i heard you in a seashell, somewhere
sometime...

there are galaxies forming wherever i go
connections established between people unknown
sometimes i feel like i stand at some center
but the eye of the storm is the emptiest room
i won't say i miss you, but the truth is
i do...

should i have stayed on the shore?

I think the way you wrote the story is amazing and that everyone who's commented already took the words before I got here, this is amazing. The last line is absolutely perfect, the flow is great, the story is absolutely phenomenal. IT's beautiful. I love this.

I just love the connections of your work especially the last stanza then the words chosen for the last line magic.

I like the story in this poem. I like the thoughts and places you took me with. I like the ending. Good to end poetry with question. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
