Twinkle rhymes,
hopeful chimes.
Painful screams,
heartfelt dreams.

Fear the girl,
who spreads all her love.
A girl who stares,
at skies above.

Crying her worries to stars,
no one notices hidden scars.
Writing secret memoirs,
the blood is spilled.
Pasting a smile,
with pen's ink filled.
The girl will make it,
at least for awhile.

The ominous warning signs
are loud and clear.
Depression is screaming,
so why don't you hear?

Ignore the boy,
who hides in pitch black.
His clothing is more,
than fashion lack.

Mascara lines,
to hide the tears.
A tough boy look,
to hide his fears.
A cross is hanging,
around his neck.
He's hoping the Lord,
will come to check.
Somebody needs to see,
that things aren't alright.
If no one realizes,
he'll soon lose the fight.

The ominous warning signs,
are loud and clear.
Depression is screaming,
so why don't you hear?

Don't stare to long,
at drug-using girl.
She lives in a fantasy,
of multi-colored whirl.

Injecting some more,
to chase away pain.
Unable to see past,
the pouring rain.
Inhaling the drugs,
are just a mask.
Needing the help,
but too scared to ask.
The cuts on her arms,
release bottled screams.
More will be inflicted,
torn apart at her seams.

The ominous warning signs,
are loud and clear.
Depression is screaming,
so why don't you hear?

Throw yourself towards,
the handsome player boy.
You'll ruin yourself,
as his own personal toy.

He could cry depression,
but who would believe?
To people, he's heartless.
He has no right to grieve.
To heal his own heart,
he'll break another.
When it comes to love,
why would you bother?
Unable to feel,
he remembers the day
when dreams ran free.
If only someone
could help him stay.

The ominous warning signs,
are loud and clear.
Depression is screaming,
so why don't you hear?

Don't dare talk,
the the anger-filled man
It's been said he'd kill anyone,
if he ever can.

He'll scream to the voices,
trapped in his head.
Not even his family saw,
all the times he bled.
Abused by a father,
in an emotional way.
He'll be more injured,
by the words that you say.
That fire in his eyes,
is from all the hurt.
From all the times,
he's sat in the dirt.
Bully him more,
that surely will work.
But you can't help,
by being a jerk.

The ominous warning signs,
are loud and clear.
Depression is screaming,
so why don't you hear?

Avoid eye contact,
with her and her face.
It looks like to me,
he put her in her place.

The bruises are hidden,
with makeup and such.
But not even makeup,
can hide that much.
He hits her face,
for no reason at all.
Slamming her body,
against the wall.
Too afraid to yell,
and even to cry.
Sometimes she wishes,
she could just die.
But she'll keep up the show,
to please all the others.
She'll join the ranks,
of the many other actors.

The ominous warning signs,
are loud and clear.
Depression is screaming,
so why don't you hear?

Self hidden,
by smiles and lies.
Human perfection,
in the world's eyes.

We all sit here,
dying to be saved.
If I show you a sign,
don't tell me I'm fine.
The obvious is here,
so you cannot ignore.
Little me perfection,
is losing depression war.

If I stand at the edge,
I'm considering the end.
If I sit all alone,
I'm looking for a friend.

So avert your eyes,
look away from me.
But when I'm gone,
I hope you finally see.

Twinkle rhymes,
show the truth.
Poetry saves,
the broken youth.

Hopeful chimes,
will someday die.
So save the hurt,
or please just try.

Painful screams,
are no joke.
Listen to us,
the many broke.

Heartfelt dreams,
will save us yet.
Giving up,
will cause regret.

Twinkle rhymes,
hopeful chimes.
Painful screams,
heartfelt dreams.

Listen to a warning sign
The whispered words,
are words that shine.

Author's Note

This poem might be confusing to some, but it's one that I felt and just couldn't stop writing. I know it's long, but it needs to be to explain this topic in full detail.

Warning signs. They're all around us. The way somebody acts is sometimes the most important thing that you can pay attention to. So if you're someone standing by, when you see someone going through something hard, don't just assume things. Talk to them, find out what's wrong. Help them. It's simple, yet nobody ever does that in the world today.

If you're someone struggling, I know you already give off signs daily. Yet it feels like nobody listens. So I present to you a challenge, and I hope you accept. Scream louder. Ask for the help you need. Get rid of the mask you hide behind. Ask for the help that you need. If you have nobody you trust, come to me. I will help as much as I can. The point it, scream out.

Immensely powerful. Stunning. A truly loud and speaking poem. The words and images you created were great. The message you sent to everyone is exactly as important. Signs are everywhere, even the smallest. Disorders are progressing things, if you have one, you need to get someone to talk to. Someone to listen. And exactly that, Scream Out. This poem definitely reaches out and towards everyone. I really liked reading it, and it encourages and inspires as well. A well written and truly stunning poem. :)

Wow, this is definitely my new favorite of yours. Very powerful, i would list all the lines that make me double-take and explain what they meant to me but all of that would fill the entire page! Very good poems, the rhymes flowed together perfectly like you naturally wrote them without thinking about it. This poem came straight from your heart and it reaches out. A very powerful poem and the strength stacks on with every line. A strange feeling it was to read it because as my eyes would decend the page my heart would ascend my throat. You portrayed your topic with perfection and not understanding the messege will prove nothing short of utter ignorance in a person. Very good poem, perfect. And the situation descibed is true, i go through it too. And so i appreciate this even more.

Wow...I don't even know where to start. I didn't think it was too long or confusing at all! It seems long as first, but the clever rhymes and very truthful and insightful words kept me reading and reading! As I was reading this, it really showed me new pain in my life from other people that I've never noticed before. The lines about the "player" really made me think about every guy I've disliked because he came off as a "player" to me....I never gave thought to why they are who they are. What I love best about this poem is that there are tons of other poems about suffering from depression and about others who suffer too, but this poem says it in a new and refreshing way, and it offers new perspectives too. Such as the "player." I really loved how well the lines flowed together, and how it keeps a steady rhythm. My favorite lines are:
"Crying her worries to stars,
no one notices hidden scars.
Writing secret memoirs,
the blood is spilled.
Pasting a smile,
with pen's ink filled.
The girl will make it,
at least for awhile.

The ominous warning signs
are loud and clear.
Depression is screaming,
so why don't you hear?" Those words capture the heart of depression, and they capture the heart of people who spill their emotions through poetry or other writing. Going into my favorites :)
