Lost in Salt

The gushing waters of a mediterranean sea on a dormant island,

form tunneling walls encased in the interior of a mountain,

leading to a secret underground laboratory.

The world above them is depleting of freshwater,

Factions of lakes were missing like pixels being erased in a picture

scientists scrounge to find a way to preserve the water.

There in the Laboratory laid two coats initialled, ¨NaCl¨ and the other, ¨Slug¨

Dr. Nathan C. Laverna towers over the electrical equipment within the lab

Smirkingly talking to Dr. Sebastian Lucas-Eugene Grabner

They establish a plan to remove salt from the ocean.     (10)

The mindset of these two Doctor’s are on different spectrums.

Dr. Laverna is a man who only worries about money.

Whereas, Dr. Grabner rather do this project for freelance,

all to quench the thirst of a droughted world.

Hidden behind a mask like a firewall  acting as an operating system

Dr. Laverna hijacks the quantitative data,

to show that salt is not being removed

when really it is.

Without any recollection that Dr. Laverna left the laboratory

Boggled thoughts race through the mind of Dr. Grabner    (20)

as he experiments with random animals:

fish, water insects and slugs

Within the laboratory there are chambers

each animal lives in these cells like malware being caged by virus protection

Being stipped of its identity  to see how to get rid of salt nuclear byproduct within the H2O

As hours progress Dr.Grabner sees a change in the data processing

It flashes across the computer screen that the salt levels have not changed.

Impossible, thought Dr. Graber, how could this come to be?

Retracing his steps…

the data looked accurate but construed with an abnormality   (30)

Then Dr. Grabner spoke out to Dr. Laverna,

¨Doctor come here, you have got to see this! Doctor! Doctor? Hello?¨

Whisper murmurs fill the halls as Dr. Grabner approaches the office

‘Well Sir I am sure you have your doubts,

you are in safe hands with our company,

we promise to offer the best service known to man.

I will contact you with any other information that will needed

for furthering your support for us.¨

Clink,

¨Is there something  bothering you Doctor Grabner?¨ (40)

¨Doctor come see what the computer is showing¨

They scurried back to the laboratory

They see that the computer screen is still reading,

‘Error: Salt levels remain the same’

¨Oh I ensure you there is no problem, the nuclear charged accelerators are just lagging¨

This provided no reassurance to Dr. Grabner.

Sensing something was going wrong, he snaps at Dr. Laverna, ¨Who was that on the phone?¨

¨A rockstar endorsed by Carlsbad who will support our project

-- with one billion dollars¨ remarked Dr. Laverna

¨Why do we need money, we have all we could ever need!  (50)

Are you trying to rob people of their money?¨

Just as an electronic book page flips over Grabner’s heart flutters

in desperation to put Laverna in his place.

¨There is no harm in keeping the truth from people¨

In all reality, everything was okay but Dr. Laverna wanted to appear things were going downhill

He wanted to run the company all by himself.

Having another person working with him was not his style.

If only Dr. Grabner would vanish away, he thought to himself

Dr. Laverna paces the room trying to think of a quick way to leave. (60)

But Dr. Grabner is one step ahead of him, and pushes him into a vat of salt waste

¨bhuhunuuh, I... can’t (gasp)...breath.¨

Sebastine unable to move becauses

The waste splashes onto the electrical panel short cuits the board

Breaks through near by chamber of slugs

Soaking Sebastine and electrocutes him

He falls flat on the ground

The nuclear charged accelerators created a chemical reaction

it came in contact with Laverna’s skin forming salt crystals off of his every limb

His skin absorbed the salt waste byproduct like a computer    (60)

obtaining a new software update

The mutations when even further into his heart to create the atom makeup of sodium chloride--

Cubes within cubes--

Breaking down every emotion he feels to become nothing but bitterness

Dr. Laverna now at the surface of the water reaches out for the edge of the vat

His hands- white, sharp, and crystallized

¨What have I become!¨

Dragging himself out of the vat, he staggers over to the glass sliding door

A reflection of him appears

A man with a hard face like diamonds   (70)

crystals hanging off of every crevasse of his skin

His iris was a cloudy white with specks of blue giving them depth.

His eyes turned off to him and onto the reflection of Dr. Grabner on the ground

The man was not the same

He was slimy

A humanoid slug

His arms and legs were like the skirt of the slug

With wet substances that soaked every inch of then

His back laid with a mantle created with tough rough grooves.

One big blob made up his head   (80)

Two little aetna stook out of his head

Dr. Nathan C. Laverna now NaCL

and Dr. Sebastian Lucas-Eugene Grabner now a Largo

NaCl’s motive to live was to take all the water away from the earth

Drench everything ounce of water known to man.

But Largo as he woke up out of unconscious felt this rush of knowledge fly through his mind

He knew NaCl’s ever move.

There was no way that drought would exist on the earth

But the slug had to make sure he stayed far enough away from NaCl (90)

Contact with salt is the worse way to die for a Slug.

NaCl’s ability to move at an extremely fast pace did not help anything

Largo barked,

“Person of Sodium Chloride, why are you, a mere atom breakdown
running so hard in an attempt to catch me,
an humanoid slug?  You’re still ignorant,
it seems, of the fact that I’m a better.
You keep coming at me with such anger.

He tries to throw salt crystals at me but it misses me my a meter decimeter

All of a sudden, Largo remembers a vital tactic in killed NaCl off. (100)

He finds the tunnels that lead to the open ground on the outside

The second NaCl steps foot outside, he is broken down and dissipates to nothing.

Salt and water do not mix that well

¨That was the first chemistry lesson I learned when I became a doctor¨ chuckled Largo

Largo got what he wanted

In the making, he saved the world too.
