Heart Of Glass

Heart Of Glass

A Poem by Alys Jackson
"

This is my old life.

"

I sit there,

On my rug.

On my table untouched,

Is my favourite mug.

My eyes stare unseeingly,

At the shards in front of me.

My mind is in a flashback,

Of my sorrowful plea.

How could you do this to me?

The question wanders my mind.

The thought is so confusing,

It's making me almost blind.

My glass heart is shattered,

By no other than you.

The glass has gone so cold,

It turns fingers blue.

Tears fall unnoticed,

Reaching for my heart.

Can't bring myself to say,

Don't know where to start.

You've torn my life to pieces,

Then dumped me in the mud.

A red rose means to you,

All I ever want is your blood.

Not long ago, I didn't apprecite life. I didn't know why I hadn't already killed myself. Luckily, God stopped me and turned my thoughts around. Now I know just how important everyone is and no one is the perfect human.

Very intense, the feeling of heartbreak. I like how the words turn to phrases, creating a beautiful flow of sorrow that causes the poem to possess her own body, curves that shape the emotion... Fabulous write... And although it is I am sorry that you have been touched with such heartbreak. It is unavoidable and know that it is a means to an end that will bring you into a relationship where the person who is lucky enough to gain your love and trust, will cherish you.

It's good to know that you have come to realize how important and how beautiful your life is. :) Anyway, you painted a clear image here. I loved how you started this poem since the scene captured me almost immediately. The sadness, the bitterness, the desperation, you expressed them all well. Great job on this one. Keep on writing. :)

I think we'd be abnormal if we all didn't go through similar type feelings in life.. Nothing in life is perfect and we just have to know there are peaks and valleys in life.. I'm glad you came out of it.. Now you can stand on level ground :) xo

glad to know this is the past.
I know these feelings well; I've expressed them on countless occasions, in countless ways. It never gets any easier, but it needs to be expressed. Without the expression it festers like a boil just beneath the surface.
