Gum,Chips and Cookies

Gum,Chips and Cookies

A Poem by SyberRose
"

inspired by Angi's poem...Poet's desk.

"
I sit relaxed with my legs stretched
 upon my gold cranberry and green couch.
The Ace computer on my lap;
my coffee table is next to me
my cookies, my Juicy Fruit gum
and my Tostito lime chips and Diet Coke.

Pillows are under my head
I wait for my muse to join me
and sometimes she stands me up.

A glass stenciled vase
filled with pink lily of the valley
sitting on my square glass top coffee table;
I hear the birds singing outside my back door,
as the squirrels eat the bird food.

My shoes and purse are under the coffee table
a box of tissues sitting on the table
in case I write a sad poem.
Magazines and a telephone;
And I hope it doesn't ring because if it does
I don't answer it unless it's my mother.

The grandfather clock on the dining room wall
is chiming on the hour.

I can see the gold anniversary clock's pendulum
moving back and forth as it sits across the room.
It is telling me time is passing... get to work.

Rose! Thank you so much for showing us where you write! I can picture your warm place so well. This is such a treat for me. Picturing you here when I read your work will add another layer of texture for me. Awesome. What are lime chips? I love citrusy things. Angi~

Thank you so much Ency...and for peeking in...Rose:)
It sounds like a lovely place to write; if you tempt your muse with lime chips and diet coke, who knows what she might bring?
I would like to look out the window at the ocean, or a body of water where I can rest my eyes or wait for my muse...
My great granddaughter is in a summer camp for a week - Mythical Creatures - They talk about unicorns, minotaurs, and make giant's toothpaste, invisibility potions/scientific experiments.. Nice talking to you. Diane

Thank you Diane...nice to see you today as always...Rose:)
Wonderfully descriptive. I enjoyed all of the little subtle touches - the tissues in case you right a sad piece and the noise from the birds outside. Al of the preparations we make for our fickle muse, like preparing for a date. And yet indeed sometimes she stands us up. Well done.

You have an interesting mind at work here. So, much going on and brilliance still pours forth. I was distracted at the "cookies." lol

I like to be comfortable when I write...thanks Bluely for peeking in:)
I loved Angi's "where I write" poem...such a frenzied piece of deliberate intent. Yours is just as powerful and so starkly different. The imagery you use shows not only a "place", but a feeling as well. Tissues, for the saddness, a clock to spur you forward into your inspirational repose, a pillow to rest your head while you muse on things to come...all beautiful things to show the innerworkings of a poet's mind. Well done.

Nice place. And because your title talks a lot about food, I think that's the reason why you are always inspired to write an awesome piece. Lol

Well-penned.
