A Beautiful Sunset

A Beautiful Sunset

A Poem by Zach Gordano

Tragedy after tragedy,
Documented in writing.
I could never feel sympathy
For the one who suffers the
Broken heart,
Until now.

Tragedy after tragedy,
My sky comes falling down.
The atmosphere is out
To crush me.
But I overpower cheap
Gravity,
For I still stand.

Tragedy after tragedy,
Twilight preys upon a sailor.
As I stare into the lonely sun,
Wondering why I am still here.
It sets every night,
But it is not gone forever.

Tragedy after tragedy,
The sun still illuminates the sky.
It is easy to lose track.
In the plethora of your beauty,
Exquisite colors melt my heart.
And I know why I still stand.

But if you are my sunset sky,
And the sky is falling,
Then why haven't you fallen
Back into my arms
And back into love with me?
