Test The Spirits

Test The Spirits

A Poem by Alvin L. Kathembe
"

Of false doctrines

"
The first time I saw you
You were,
To my eyes,
Like the Annunciation,
Like Venus incarnated,
Like a vision of heaven.

The first time I spoke to you
You sounded,
To my ears,
Like the beatitudes, the parables;
Like the Delphine oracle;
Like the good news.

But finally I saw,
And finally I heard,
The real you: and you were
A fallen angel in false light wreathed
The wine of the pharisees;
A whitened sepulchre.
