Om

Om

A Poem by Alvin L. Kathembe
"

A meditation

"

The Brahmin sits, he sits so still

You wonder if he’s still alive

Wanting nothing, being nothing,

Striving not to strive.

Deeper than the eagles soar

High as dolphins dive,

As empty as the cosmos;

Striving not to strive.

Desires quiet, passions quenched:

He will neither smile nor sigh

Hush, raging psyche! Rage no more

Waging peace upon the war;

Striving not to strive.
