I AM

I AM

A Poem by TMthePoet
"

An Introductiom poem to give my readers and critics a sense of who I am and where I come from. ENJOY!

"
I am from messy high chairs and shattered tin-foiled Windows "
from extended late night video game sessions.
I am from the infinite number of houses that I called “Home Sweet Home.”
I am from the lemon stained dandelions that seized neighbour’s backyards.
I am from wholesome dinner meals and privacy of closed doors "
from a long list of broken souls and half hearted apologies.
I am from the family of empty beer cans and full ashtrays "
from “Be Who You Are’ but “why can’t you accept change?”
I am from open Bibles on nightstands and closed services on sundays.
I was born and raised in Winnipeg and am proudly First Nation.
I am from sunday soups and fried bannock "
from the Tribute to a Taxi Driver and Residential School survivor stories.

Author's Note

TMthePoet
I’m not the best — never will — but I’m in it for the satisfaction that somewhere in this f*cked up world, I’ll inspired someone by my words and they’ll learn how to do it better.
