Dark Chronicle 0: Prologue

Dark Chronicle 0: Prologue

A Poem by Tabitha Alphess
"

Sanity. I don't think I know what that is anymore.

"

Truth. People say the truth will set you free.

          It didn’t.

                   It didn’t set me free.

It nearly destroyed me.

It bound me in an array of cold, hard chains.

Coming at me from every direction.

I had very little time to get away.

          I was told too late.

Tick, Tock.

          Tick, Tock.

                   Tick, Tock.

                             Tick, Tock.

Time is short.

          No time to think,

                   To process,

                             To say goodbye.

Tick, Tock.

          Tick, Tock.

                   Tick, Tock.

                             Tick, Tock.

Time is running out.

The truth cracked my world in two.

Locked me and my sibling in an endlTruth. People say the truth will set you free.

          It didn’t.

                   It didn’t set me free.

It nearly destroyed me.

It bound me in an array of cold, hard chains.

Coming at me from every direction.

I had very little time to get away.

          I was told too late.

Tick, Tock.

          Tick, Tock.

                   Tick, Tock.

                             Tick, Tock.

Time is short.

          No time to think,

                   To process,

                             To say goodbye.

Tick, Tock.

          Tick, Tock.

                   Tick, Tock.

                             Tick, Tock.

Time is running out.

The truth cracked my world in two.

Locked me and my sibling in an endless tug-of-war.

The world and the one’s I love are the tuggers,

                             And we are the rope.

                                      And the rope is breaking.

Tick, Tock.

          Tick, Tock.

                   Tick, Tock.

                             Tick, Tock.

The time is near.

The war continues to grow fierce.

The misery continues to flow like the mighty river.

                   Swift and fast.

                             Long and powerful.

Drip, Drop.

          Drip, Drop.

                   Drip, Drop.

                             Drip, Drop.

Feel the pain flow.

          And the darkness rise.

Dark?

          Light?

                   Black?

                             White?

I don’t know the difference anymore.

Friend?
          Foe?

                   Good?

                             Bad?

Can’t tell which is which.

Purity.

          Too good to be true.

                   Captivity.

                             No where to run.

                                      Sanity.

           Peace of mind.

Sanity.

I don’t think I know what that is anymore.

          Light?

                   Black?

                             White?

I don’t know the difference anymore.

Friend?
          Foe?

                   Good?

                             Bad?

Can’t tell which is which.

Purity.

          Too good to be true.

                   Captivity.

                             No where to run.

                                      Sanity.

           Peace of mind.

Sanity.

I don’t think I know what that is anymore.

I think I may have found a typo...

Time is running out.
The truth cracked my world in two.
Locked me and my sibling in an endlTruth. People say the truth will set you free.
It didn’t.

If not, what is an endlTruth?
