Dark Chronicle 2: The Hell Flower

Dark Chronicle 2: The Hell Flower

A Poem by Tabitha Alphess
"

For even the pretties of flowers can be the deadliest of poisons.

"

Deep in the dark forest that guards my heart

Lies a beautiful flower in a patch of ebony, fertile soil.

          Soil rich in

                   Hate

                       Fear

                          And lies.

          And blood.

                   So much blood.

                                 My blood.

It stands tall, nourished by the world’s twisted light and hell’s steady flow of my family’s misery.

As the darkness rises the flower grows, its roots digging deeper into that blood rich soil.

                    Hell flowers

Steadily bloom.

With an array of colorful doom.

Its long ebony petals rimmed with the brightest gold

And streaked with the prettiest blue lightning bolts.

Electrifying even the strongest of warriors.

Warriors who do not hold the key.

                                       The key to my heart.

          Drip,

             Drip,

                Drip.

                   Feel the pain flow

                             And the darkness rise.

All who touch this flower are doomed to be devoured by the fiery green-eyed shadows that surround my locked black booked heart.

          Veins of blue will rise from their skin in an elaborate maze with only one answer and only one way out;

Death.

Demons play in hellish delight as they guide you into the depths their bloodied home.

For few that enter this dark forest have a cross engraved in their heart.

Dark flowers

                             Steadily bloom

With an aroma of sweetest doom.

Even though the flower is so very refined, the thorns continue to drive the dark garden to decline.

Many have and are yet to fall to this hellish bloom.

For even the prettiest of flowers can be the deadliest of poisons.
