Don't look now my humanity is showing

A Poem by Tabby Mac
"

The bareness of soul...

"
What then do we have left in life?
If stripped down to our humanity.
If I know deep down...
I could lose it all in a day...
What then do I have to say?

I've been homeless.
I've been abused.
Both ways...don't be confused.
My extended family is not present.
It can be empty and desolate.

I have little left.
Tho what I hold, is all I have.
But, I don't own them either.
My three beautiful children
My husband...so kind
No...they are not truly mine.

Tomorrow or even now...
Fate could make them take their final bow.
So when it wells up in me;
fear of all fears
of God himself
And all his power.
It makes me cower.

But then I get up
I tell the fear to shut up!
For, even if the one and only God above...
took my only loves,
he will
somehow...somehow
still make me whole.

Until my final last breath
because I am eternal.
This life.
My loves.
We look to something higher.

And, if I don't hold tight to this anchor...
The very breath within me is not for me to take.
I would give up right now, make no mistake.
The promise is all I have!

That is why I am who I am.
As genuine as I can possibly be
loving, giving, encouraging.

For if this God given freedom I have
is able to be shared...
I'm dishing it out with a passion,
I'm not scared.
Take it, it's free!

My life has been painful
and hard thus far.
Some choices were mine...
some were beyond my control.
But to be brought high not low
is beyond what I can explain.
And even still when the choice is hard
I try not to complain.

Ask yourself if you believe.
Find that faith hiding in the deep!
Nurture it, feed it, allow it to grow...
because...
if we are honest we never know.

I really love this poem! I can truly see the openness of your soul as transparent as glass. There is a vulnerability, sincerity, melancholy and humility.
I love the smartness behind the pull and intrigue of the title.
I love your introductory line: 'What then do we have left in life?'
This poem concerns us all.
I give many credits to you for showing and sharing your faith in Our Creator of Heaven and Earth.

Your voice is needed in this world! I hope and pray that millions of people get to read your divinely inspired words. The Lord has deposited a goldmine of wisdom in you, riches that are not always visible to many in this world. But eyes that want to see will see; ears that want to hear will hear, for wisdom speaks for herself!

There is so much more to us than flesh and bones.

Well done!!!

I consider myself a more spiritual person than one who follows a particular religion. However, I think we all need an anchor of sorts to stop us from straying into deeper and darker waters. We need something to guide us in the right direction. I envy people who have a strong faith, mine has been watered down over the years and has become thin gruel. I have seen too many atrocities carried out in the name of religion to regain what I have lost. Your little poem is certainly thought provoking Tabby.

i always think religion is an interesting topic...do we believe to have a crutch, something to hold us up in life...to lean on?
or is God real? I tend to believe the latter...but it really makes me sad to see when violence is done in his name...a loving God would not approve...i also think that real Christianity is in humanity towards others..it's in not preaching it, but living it.
very thoughtful write here that is enough to make us introspect our own beliefs and understanding.

This is so beautiful and humble.. and you're so right.. many people are so full of pride that they forget or neglect to act with humanity toward others.. to realize we are all the same.. all broken.. all suffering, feeling pain and making the wrong mistakes.. and yet there is hope, and that's what is so beautiful about your piece.

I like when a writer becomes vulnerable, writing from their soul where words come alive, and I can feel them. You did an amazingly, beautiful job with this piece, Tabby. It was so heartfelt, and honest. We all go through ebbs and flows in life, and it is in those moments of weakness we find our strength. Strength needed to get us past the next obstacle, and to become a source of inspiration to others. Looking forward to reading more of your lovely poetry.

A well-expressed slice of your mind that rings as clear as a bell. I like how the path meanders thru thoughts as one's mind does when idly pondering. I love the way you expose your vulnerabilities & your inner tug-of-war to not let the crappy parts of life get you down. This reflects my own lifelong struggles in so many delicious details, yet also open-ended enuf to let me fill in my own blanks (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you Margie for such an encouraging, thoughtful review! Grateful,

Take whatever life throws at us and if knocked over, get straight back up again and onto the saddle for despite the obstacles, the winning post is in sight!

A truly remarkable journey, head held high for faith and virtue are always by your side, exquisite poetry my friend, penned from the heart, always the best kind!

May I quote an extract and assimilation from the great Robbie Burns' poem, ' A man's A man for A' that'..
' wealth, or lack of it,and social class should not be the measure of a man's true worth. " The rank is but the guinea's stamp" means that a person cannot be given a price. The man's character is the true gold.'

( of course in this case, substitute the word 'man' for 'woman')

i don't know where to put this , really,

BRING THE PANTHER

If you are ducking out on life to be free and independent, you have felt the many possible lives within a few dimensions of a relaxed mind. You are able to feel and entertain life decisions, however without consequence. Moreover, you only end up chasing the satisfaction, the times you are satisfied, and not the satisfying life. You must know the real life choices that have been made between a subject and a drug-induced divinity, the parables in history.

Do you remember the first time you began craving, empty inside, a psychoactive drug? We really need to keep that from happening to our civilized youth. If they are stable and non-flammable, don't f**k with it. Although, this shocking, horrible addiction without tangible reason appears to be likened to a virginity lost for the brain. All addictions, then, stay around us, each one having a different perception changing quality. So, it's now time to deal. Let life and emotions go like jumping sheep or let them pass like the dead passing over to the other side. Most importantly, look at us and remember, like Dionysus, we are complicated. IT can be complicated.

Man and horse, man and goat, woman and snake, woman and fish, and in favor of the female: woman and sky *Nuit"nut"*. In a world between the divine and the solemn human heart, people danced and sang and drank according to the instinct or personal expression. Dionysus cults meant to make a most intimate connection with the wild, being either a mother of the wild or the predator. Therefore, they studiously had invented acceptance, for then and now (seemingly). Growing this acceptance becomes love from necessity, from Heredity, from Life. This to give love wholly back to nature. They redeemed it from the other people as if to teach you how to too, for to worship Dionysus is to become him, IT. Their intention was to emulate the god, who was the thigh of Zues. Apparently, a thigh was enough, because Dionysus was also a Lord of the dead and panthers were always near or driving his chariot.

I'm not asking you to dance naked under the full moon in Cancer. Nothing about trances being the key. No, I make the statement, a dream can come into reality. Or maybe, I am wanting you to get along with or without mental addictions! Only, I really want you to know that the decisions we are forced to make, imposing on our consciences, can come too early or by hand prematurely. No mind, you have to make a decision NOW, societal or not: It doesn't actually have an effect on your smarts or other. It is a choice to move up a grade, still a student, by a pick and grab. You will understand more when you're up there and will always have rocky range to change places at will. Plus you will understand at heart what career you really want to styck with! Don't mind me, if you read this far.

I must take care to show you that you can have life with love, a panther at your side, no matter how MAD you get! Even when the wild anarchy of problems run amok in your living room. People die from delusions, drugs, and beliefs. Some people need psycho stimulants to satisfy themselves while some people need them to have a satisfying life. You can conquer old-fad-loser-labels and gain control of your pride by winning over your instincts and by channeling a personal divinity for you. You must be aware that the "higher power" breath, fresh-air-divinity always comes first in body-mind meditations. It's pointless to use your body before anything else is clear. If you have the Dionysian spirit, you can dance. You just have to put on your shoes. Rock n' roll.

When you feel the undecided feeling again, bring a Panther, hold your power over people, and choose anything. Remember? You'll need to pick a class to be in the following grade. If choosing one career or major is a shaky place and unsatisfying, being free and independent will trump those, and being yourself freely feeling pride will overpower them all. To stand we need feet of confidence like a Panther. Choose confidence in the wild, random, chaotic Self: YOU.

This was powerful. I loved how it was worded and how you went through so much but at the end of it still stand with your head up high and now here you are writing beautiful poetry.
