Make me more like You

Make me more like You

A Poem by Tabby Mac
"

To my Creator...I have so much to learn

"
Just when I thought I knew something...
I find that I know not.
I found myself confident, but confidence is where I am caught.
A little thing really,it was...that came into play.
It threw me a curve ball and filled me with dismay.
A light shined in my darkness...what was I to do?
It burned me deeply and that is when I knew...
I’m not who I thought I was...
And it froze me through and through.
A week went by and I cried and cried, not knowing what to do.
So, I sat there grieving and feeling blue.

Until one day I decided I had to try something new.
Humbled, saddened and thoughtless too...
 I said a little prayer.

“Make me more like You.”

This is meaningful to me in more ways than one. This is powerful and beautiful work. Humility is key. It's something I really struggle with a lot. I am too vain in many of my ways. Thank you for this write.

Humility is so much different than I ever thought it was. As I try to cling to it, it teaches me new.. read more
We don’t always see ourselves but when something spurs the view,
it is a gift even though it may not always feel that way at first.
Your poem is beautifully expressed with a gentle flow.

Thank you! I appreciate you!
very thoughtful. Life is a mystery and so is our creation.
We have more to learn and more to understand. I can sense a touch of self-realization and soul search here for seeking who were are and what is it all about - our creation and life.
A Prayer it is at the end, in HIS humble abode we may find our answers, but more questions too.
Thanks for sharing.

That's a lovely poem. It reminds me of the cycle we sometimes find ourselves in. With arrogance comes the eventual fall, then through payer and searching, forgiveness in grace. Can't say I'm a perfect judge of your words, but they do speak. Good one. CD

Do we ever really know ourselves? What a delightful and thought provoking little write Tabby. Much enjoyed.

i am still trying to figure out who i am, even at my older age...have somewhat of a grip on it...
but yes, as your poem implies...i think the longer i have been around, the less i know...and the less i know that i thought i already knew...life will fool us...and more often we fool ourselves.

Not very Goddy myself, but I like others to be.
Life does hit us with the odd curve ball now and again. (Which reminds me. Must give the neighbour money for his window.) But we bounce back and life is good again.
