Smiles & Lazy Nicknames

Smiles & Lazy Nicknames

A Poem by Taralei N. Griffin
"

A song I wrote. I came up with the lyrics after a dream I had one night about a friend who simply calls me "T."

"

*Verse 1*

Well, I'm missing you now

More than I thought I would,

Though I guess I should've expected it.

You were the one

Who got me through those trying times.

Without you, I wouldn't have made it.

*Chorus*

And it's killing me now

'cause last night I dreamt

So vividly of you.

But with the way things are going

I won't hear you call me

that lazy nickname again,

or see you smile at me.

*Verse 2*

Well, it was I who had to leave

And I'm wishing I hadn't.

If I had stuck with you,

I know I'd be living life better,

I'd be in love with you.

That's all I want right now.

*Chorus*

And it's killing me now

'cause last night I dreamt

So vividly of you.

But with the way things are going

I won't hear you call me

that lazy nickname again,

or see you smile at me.

*Bridge*

In that dream last night

We were sitting on the steps

Where we had met.

I was leaning against your back

And suddenly burst into tears.

You turned and held me

Til I woke up with actual tears

Fresh on my cheeks.

You are the best thing

That's ever happened to me

And I can't believe I left.

*Chorus*

And it's killing me now

'cause last night I dreamt

So vividly of you.

But with the way things are going

I won't hear you call me

that lazy nickname again,

or see you smile at me.

I just want you here with me.
