Conversion

Conversion

A Poem by Tina
"

This is about my ex and one of the reasons we broke up

"

My old love sold her desire for a pair of wings.
A Halo to bind her. For the Lord she only sings.
Her horns come out from time to time to break
a heart or two. With hand to Bible, clutching her
cross she vows to stay loyal and true. She gave
up her soul and who she was to be a Mindless lamb.
Full of good deeds and charity she thinks that
I am damned,  God has always had my back,
I don't need her to save me. I would not compete

With  God so I walked away.

She sounds like my mother who turned to faith for all the wrong reasons. Seeking a redemption that only they themselves can give. If you can't forgive your own guilt you will never find it in faith. Thank you, Tina, for sharing your eye opening and heartfelt poem.

Honest words and thoughts shared dear Tina. I do believe we decide our journey and our ending. I liked the honest ending my dear friend. Like Jack London once wrote. "God always win, men believe they can win and death teaches them the truth." Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

You are welcome dear Tina.
Your friend followed her faith blindly and it sounds as a result of that you were the collateral damage. To me this means perhaps that she disapproved of your choices in how you live and love. I think it so sad when people pass judgement on others. Sad poem Tina.

Thank you very much
Well spoken verse and it hits home for me, also. My ex became a fundie Christian and there's nothing wrong with that except she tried to convert me and our daughter to her versions of religion. It didn't happen. And that you for posting this honest, heartfelt poem.

You're welcome thank you for visiting
When some find THEIR God - it changes whom they are to everyone and everything else. And there is no tolerance nor an understanding within them. Their present, judges all their past and flags the variance as wrong and heartless. Even love morphs into loss.
