My room

My room

A Poem by Tina
"

A room can be a haven or a prison

"
the gray cat on a dresser stands
still, staring with lifeless eyes.
fur shines so smooth but not
soft and warm. i wish it was
alive purring softly in my lap.
but it sits frozen forever gazing.
silent and cold. like death.
opposite is my dog , alive and
warm. soft to the touch .
floppy ears twitch. when i`m
sad he comforts me.  when im
cold he keeps me warm at night.
he protects me . hes aged and gray
but i still see the puppy i raised.
a painting on the wall of paris.
the Eiffel tower stands tall in the
 backdrop. people stroll the streets
window shopping or peering at the
canals rippling waters. its one of my
favorites paintings  . and its
signed ..Burnett.. leaving me to
ponder.
i have a window that i can look
out at only a portion of this small
town. i see the moods of the weather.
night and days pass. trees and
birds. three plants sit on the
windowsill clinging to life. as  i
dream of a life outside these walls.
my room as a whole had everything
i need. a warm cozy bed. pretty things
to fill it , a tv and radio , and many other
comforts. yet it can be a lonely
prison. it can hide my secrets , thoughts
and dreams. it is a reflection of me. but
i yearn for freedom and adventure.

Perhaps in life we need both a prison of sorts as well as a home. Day to day we need go out into the wide wide wall.. but, at times, we need a hidey hole when and where we need only please self, be self, ignore self. Your poem seems to run through your life, mentioning this and that, but at the end you are the person you are and.. need be,

' need. a warm cozy bed. pretty things
to fill it , a tv and radio , and many other
comforts. yet it can be a lonely
prison. it can hide my secrets , thoughts
and dreams. it is a reflection of me. but
i yearn for freedom and adventure.

Such fine writing, so honest.. fluid and sincerely, Tina.

I love this
I can relate to all of it
Our bedroom becomes a reclusive sanctuary and can be a prison
Love cats but allergic alas
