At Arm's Reach

At Arm's Reach

A Poem by Tracie D'Angelo

I treasure my dreams of you
For reality is so cold and empty
In my dreams
I can reach out and lay a hand on your warm face
I can lightly brush my lips across your eyelids
I can lay my head against your chest and feel your heart beat
I can sigh in your embrace
I can melt every sinew and tendon
     when your lips meet mine
          and our breaths become labored
as our hearts quicken and beat as one
as I lose myself in the moment and the world disappears and its just us
For a while
Until I wake
And you're at arm's reach
But I can't touch you

well written piece...I like the layout and the way it flows on out from the middle verse....and the fact that this is all a dream, but you can';t reach this person...good poetry...look forward to reading more of your words on the Cafe...:)
