Heart of Stone

Heart of Stone

A Poem by Teresa Powell
"

I was having a period where it felt like my dad didn't care. I was married at the time and it was just a rough time.

"
Heart of stone with ice for your veins.
Stone cold heart ice running through your veins.
Do you care that ice runs through your veins?
Can you live feeling the pressure of a stone for a heart?
Do you care for anyone or even yourself?
Do you feel the ice running through your veins?
How is it that you live your life with a heart of stone.
Do you care what happens to you?

I can hear the poet demanding an answer.
How do I know the heart is stone?
How do I know there is ice in the veins?
What are the deeds of this unknown soul?
Help me feel what the poet feels.
