RECESS USING 1962A Poem by Terry CollettA BOY AND GIRL AND KISSING AT RECESS IN 1962Benny thinks of Yiska as he stares out of his high window at the lawn and orchard apples ripe butterflies fluttering she had sat on his lap at recess them alone out of sight of others she had worn her mother's cheap perfume her body close to his her thin arms round his neck kissing him he held her narrow waist sensed her breasts on his chest a woodcock called out from a nearby wood loudly a peacock butterfly fluttered by caught his eye he recalls how his hand had moved up her left thigh her kisses on his neck vampire like then a bell had rung out from the school they parted and walked back to classes afternoon old lessons he wonders what Yiska is doing while at home is she too looking out at a sky growing dim? thinking of the recess and kisses and of him? © 2015 Terry Collett |
