distance

distance

A Poem by The They
"

far away...

"

Sometimes,

When the world’s motion takes hold,

I find myself staring at your image.

Bending the distance between us,

Into the gap between myself and reality.

Where once in front of me stillness flowed,

Chaos screams against your lifeless image.

And now I find myself straying once again:

Fearing you will forget

what between us that can only go unsaid.

I am remembering those times when

Words encumbered the expression

Of a love felt without reflection:

The complications of my thoughts

Simplified

Into that warm embrace.

Now illusions of my longing efface

That sublime meaning existence once held.

Life shifts from an endless symphony

To the world screaming:

“there is no poetry here”
