Eternal

Eternal

A Poem by TheAdventOf
"

Just thinking about home

"

I wonder if all the tiny sea shells and pebbles

Get tired of being tossed around in the tide.

Always somewhere new,

New homes,

New friends,

New crushes,

Or a lack of all three.

Maybe they came from far out in the sea

Brought up by turmoil in the sand,

A long journey by way of its surroundings.

Or they came from the sidewalks,

Kicked down by everyone who walked the shoreline

Never once noticing what they’d done.

Either way, they’re where they are now,

Eternally tossed by kids,

Floating momentarily,

Or tossed back onto the beach,

But never still.

I wonder what they would say

About all the things they’d seen

Or how they got here.

I wonder if they even know what’s going on.

Your perspective is simply reflective. I like the way you seem to associate yourself with the shells, forever tossed around. It's almost like a confession of not having control of anything life throws at you, which I think is pretty much true in some degree. Nice symbolism.

Keep Writing. ^___^

I really liked the personification and the imagery of the poem. It makes you think about things that you normally don't think about. Very nicely done.

Good use of personification. The only purpose for personification is to get the reader to care about an object, and you nailed it. Keep it up.
